On a first sight I was amazed by the case of this CD. There’s a sanded bands logo, so I would more expect some country style. The same of the picture from inner side, where guys with hats are walking the plains. And the same of 4th songs name „Suzzana“.
But the very first song took me out of my mistake. It was like The Who with Robert Plant by the mic has started their show. Singer Nicholas Stuart during his performance somehow „hiccuping“, but not the way singers used to in ’60. The song is really great album opener!

In second song called “Shake Shake” I was taken up by the introductory riff. I also really like the way guys can “monotonous” fast track in a specific moment slow down, calm it and then again turn in back into original rate. “Way Down Low” has really well made beginning. Drummer (Jon Jon) just simply plays two tacts. But he’s the only one. So he stops and starts again, it takes effect of a great joke for live performance. Futhermore I really like the full sound of guitars. What’s more, in finishing solo the are perceptible classical pentatonic style like Chuck Berry. Finally “Suzzana” is totaly different then the other three songs. It’s the only slow song, completely played accoustic, there are also “another” drums. If you would change both singers (here sings vocals durms player Jon Jon together with Nicholas) for Simon & Garfunkel, you wouldn‘t find big difference and you would really hardly recognize that the song is recorded by “some” Wildbirds. The song has absolutely country sound and totaly not-country vocals, but it really, I don’t know way, matches together.
And my final word is that I was really suprised by this young band as it really sound like they’re plaing since the best time of classic rock. We have received to our hands their promo cd with just four songs. They have released their first full cd called “Golden Daze” at 14/8/2007 and we should just recommend you to go to the first music store you find and get your own copy.
